Poupee Girl
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008Poupee Girl is a Japanese-language widget that acts as a mini fashion shoot for your Poupee (or avatar) - you get to dress them up with clothes you buy for your Poupee. Not only that, you also get to buy accessories, bags, shoes, makeup for your Poupee as well! You can also customize their looks by purchasing makeup, hair style and hair color. All items in the Poupee world are bought by their currency called as “Ribbons”. Ribbons are hard to get by, but by posting “Snapshots” - pictures of your Poupee - and commenting on other Poupee owners around Japan (and I believe the entire world), you get free Ribbons. Visiting Poupee profiles also gets you Shells which you could collect and sell for extra Ribbons. Best of all, if you are in dire need of cash, you could recycle your Poupee stuff for shells to sell in the marketplace in the Community.
Buying stuff for your Poupee could be looked at the Community area of the Poupee World, where other Poupees sell their stuff that they don’t want anymore for extra Ribbons. This is really good because there are items that you could canvass and look for specific Ribbon price tags. Some of teh clothes and otehr accessories could be had at bargain prices there, than what you could normally pay them for - it helps to search through all teh items. Also, like the IMVU 3D chat, you could also pay for Ribbons via credit card or Paypal (not too sure with IMVU though) and shop to your hearts content. Buying Ribbons through this method also nets the user several limited edition items for their Poupee.
It’s 2D and all, but it’s quite addictive. Aside from posting Poupees, since this is super fashionable Japan we’re talking about here, Poupee Girl is also a place wherein Poupee owners can showcase their own clothes and accessories (like a photo blog of some sort) and their Poupee friends could vote on them for being cute and comment on each individual photo there. Poupee friends or visitors can rate the cuteness and upgrade their ranking by clicking on the “Suteki!” button (”suteki” is kinda “like”/”love” in Japanese).
