Everlasting love
Saturday, July 22nd, 2006This is the first of my reflections about true love, anime style. Who says anime is just for kids? Here is the first example of how teenage love could be something beyond puppy love and even beyond the grave. I dedicate this post and the other "Everlasting love" posts to 3 of my most favorite couples.
Fllay Allster
Genetic type: Natural
DOB: March 15, CE 56
Age: 15 [GS]
Nationality: United Emirates of Orb [GS]
Allegiance: OMNI Enforcer [GS]
Family: George Allster (father, deceased)
Love Interests: Ssigh Argylle (former fiancee)
Kira Yamato
Height: 162 cm [GS]
Weight: 53 kg [GS]
Blood type: A
Hair Color: Dark Red
Eye Color: Grey
Mobile Suit: ***Strike Rouge (alas, Fllay could've kicked SO much
@$$…T____T)
Affiliated: Archangel [GS]
Vesalius [GS]
Dominion [GS]
Only daughter of the Atlantic Federation Vice Minister George Allster. She goes to the same technical college just like Kira, although she's a year younger than him and his other friends (Miriallia Haww, Tolle Koenig, Kuzzey Buskirk, Ssigh Argylle). Pretty and very
popular, she must have managed to make many boys' heads turn, most especially (and unfortunately for those who don't like her that much) Kira's. She was engaged to be married
to Ssigh by their parents' arrangement (much like Athrun Zala and Lacus Clyne's political marriage?). During the Heliopolis attack, she, along with Kira and the rest of their friends, were drawn into the conflict raging on between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT by means of being unoficially enlisted into the Archangel. Fllay didn't really join until much later,
when she witnessed her father's death at the hands of the Coordinators she detested so much. She put the blame on Kira and accused him of conniving with the Coordinators, because he himself was a Coordinator. She then went on to manipulate him by being his first lover, and
vowed that she won't let Kira stop until he kills all Coordinators, and wouldn't care less if he gets killed in the process. But Kira's feelings for her, even if Fllay reciprocated with "false" feelings for it, slowly dawned on her and she started to care for him. It was very evident during their last meeting together that she wanted to tell him something. Her
feelings became very concrete when Kira went MIA and thought about all the good things Kira did for her, and the revelation of Ssigh's. She was then supposed to have shipped off on the Dominion, along with Mwu La Flaga and Natarle Badriguel, but decided to return to her friends. It was at this point when she met Rau Le Creuset, and he had her kidnapped and took her onboard the Vesalius. Fllay now found herself in the company of Coordinators she detested so much, but eventually overcame her bias towards them. Rau gave her a little diskette and told her it contained something that would help end the war and told her to
make contact with the EA ships who would be willing to take her in. Kira, who was in Freedom at that time, heard her voice when she tried calling for help, and became crazy that the Freedom Gundam almost got destroyed in the process as he tried to go where she was. She
heard his voice as well, and was very happy when she found out that he was alive, after all. Sadly, she wasn't able to say what she truly felt for him, as she was killed off by Rau at the last instant. Before she left though, she apologized to Kira, told him not to cry anymore, because she would now protect him with her truest feelings.

Archangel [GSD]
Main protagonist of Gundam SEED, and 1 of the 3 main characters of SEED Destiny. He was a technical college student in Heliopolis along with his friends Miriallia Haww, Tolle Koenig, Kuzzey Buskirk, and Ssigh Argylle. During his days over at that college, it was revealed that he had a huge crush on Fllay: Kira, Miriallia, and Tolle bumped into Fllay who was with her girlfriends giggling about a letter that Ssigh Argylle gave to her and one of her friends blurted out that Fllay and Ssigh were now officially engaged. Kira looked surprised, his 2 friends looked at him surprised (they knew Kira liked Fllay a LOT), and Fllay got embarrassed and told her friends off for being tattle tales. Kira met Fllay again in the
Archangel after the Heliopolis attack. at first, when she found out that Kira was a Coordinator, she didn't minded it much, but when she saw her father die at the "hands" of Kira, her view changed drastically (after the somewhat spotty Lacus Clyne episode…>.>;; ). Kira became even more of an emotional wreck when the shuttle that he was supposed to have
protected during that atmospheric entry to Earth was gunned down by Yzak Joule. He found comfort in Fllay's arms, and eventually they became each other's first lovers. At first, he was very overly protective of Fllay: this was very evident when Ssigh was "harrassing" Fllay
and Kira twisted his arm, saying that he could never know what he was going through at that time, and Fllay was the only one who understood him. He also became very obsessed with the fact of trying to protect Fllay that he even slept in the Strike Gundam's cockpit. After his
battle with Andrew Waltfeld, though, Kira started having second doubts about his ideals and their relationship, a fact which was ended in Orb. Fllay hated him for it, accusing him of just pitying her, then runs away crying. He met her one last time before he left to fight ZAFT, then told her that whatever it was, it could wait after the battle. He then squared
off with Athrun Zala and went MIA. Kira received the Freedom Gundam from Lacus Clyne in the PLANTs, where he spent his time recuperating from that mysterious survival of an in his face Aegis Gundam self-detonation, then returned to the Archangel. At first, he didn't care about
Fllay's disappearance. It was during that escape pod trick made by Rau Le Creuset that showed how much he had really cared for Fllay. He went crazy when he heard her voice, and was stopped by Athrun before Freedom became scrap metal. He had a hallucination of Fllay and
Lacus interchanging, then cried in Lacus'lap onboard the Eternal, saying over and over again that he didn't want to hurt her. He tried saving her one last time, during his fight with Rau onboard his Providence Gundam; there was a moment when Kira and Fllay saw each other, and both had overwhelming happiness in their faces and how their faces glowed with the love they truly felt for each other. Alas, Rau cut this short and killed Fllay right in front of Kira's eyes.
Kira then spent the next 2 years over at Onogoro Island in Orb, living ogether with Reverend Malchio (the blind priest who saved him and sent him to Lacus), Carida Yamato (his mother), Lacus, and the children of the orphanage. It was shown during the first episodes of GSD that he was still haunted by the last war, and almost always thought of Fllay in his flashbacks. He vowed never to take part in a war again, but the assassination attempt on Lacus' life made him change his mind and so he took up his sword (Freedom Gundam) again. It wasn't clearly shown that he had gotten over Fllay: he was always staring at the ocean,
Lacus was always looking at him worriedly, and the first time that he and Lacus actually touched, it was shown that Lacus was the one who held his arm and led Kira away from the Onogoro Memorial and Shinn Asuka. His "protection" instinct was only set off by Pink chan's assassin alarm…then it was shown that Kira was holding Lacus' waist/hand then took his hand away abruptly when Murrue/Andrew turned to talk to the both of them. Then, he was hugging Lacus saying that he would be alright and that everything would be alright. The next time they touched, Lacus was leaning against his shoulder and told him that she was going to leave for the PLANTs to see about the threat posed by the new Supreme Council Chairman, Gilbert Dullindal. Kira tried escorting her escape shuttle to space but Lacus told him that Murrue and the others needed him more at that time; it was only during this incident that
Kira actually tried something to say about his feelings for her, and was abruptly cut short. The next time they touched, Athrun had to actually kick him into the Strike Rouge to do it; ZAFT found about the Eternal's hiding place and were about to turn to a pink cloud of interstellar matter when Kira showed up to save her. They ran into each other's arms right
after, and Lacus gave him a new sword, the Strike Freedom Gundam, to replace the sword (Freedom) he lost to Shinn. During their "date" in Copernicus, Kira was acting the part of the so-so "boyfriend", who wasn't saying anything, complimentary or otherwise, during Lacus' outfit shopping and fitting room changes. Kira wasn't shown having any emotions as he and Lacus walked away together during the Final Plus. >.>;; VERY spotty, if I do say so myself (and the Special Editions would work them out, yeah! -_______-;; )…anyway, enough of the
blow by blow account of his "love life" after Fllay. Kira was the one who decided that they kidnap Cagalli Yula Athha (that Freedom + flying doves scene is just totally PRICELESS! XD ) so that she would be saved from forcing herself into a political marriage where she didn't
love the man she was to marry (Yuna Roma Seiran) and so set the ball rolling in motion for the Archangel crew. He distrusted the current Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Dullindal's schemes as soon as he saw Meer Campbell (I wonder why?) and decided outright that he was very fishy. He met up with Athrun together with Cagalli and tried to convince him of his feelings about the chairman, but in which Athrun refused. The next time they met it was in a battlefield, with Kira, Cagalli, and Archangel trying to stop the EA from fighting ZAFT, and Orb as well, and where Heine Westenfluss (a FAITH soldier and such a COOL character….T____T) got killed because of Kira's meddling, along with a bunch of unnamed Minerva personnel in the Tannhauser. He then proceeds onto Savioring Athrun, and got ZOMGBBQ by Shinn Asuka when he found out that a "grunt" could actually SEED. Kira also killed Stellar Loussier, Shinn's love interest, because she was destroying Moscow by her Destroy Gundam. Shinn finally decided that his GOD MODING days are over: he repaid him by getting him Freedomed…XD He became an emotional wreck when he lost his sword. He then went into
space to receive his new sword from Lacus, the Strike Freedom Gundam, and declared his GOD MODING presence again when he descended to Orb airspace and defended Orb from the marauding attacks of the Minerva, the Legend Gundam (piloted by Rey Za Burrel), the Destiny Gundam (piloted by Shinn) and the Impulse Gundam (now piloted by Lunamaria Hawke). Eventually, he learned about the Destiny Plan and decided, together with Lacus, that it was bad for the rest of the world. Then came the deciding battle for the fate of the CE: Kira, who was
fighting Rey, was shocked to find out (after his "Newtype" reaction….-_____-;; ) that Rey was in fact Rau's clone. He destroyed him easily with a well placed psychological attack, then proceeded to face Dullindal in the asteroid fortress, Messiah. He was about to shoot him down when Rey shot him himself. Then, with the peace for the entire world secure, Kira talks to Shinn and Lunamaria at the Onogoro Memorial in the Final Plus and decided that they should bury the hatchet.

Only daughter of the Supreme Council Chairman, Siegel Clyne. A very popular idol of the PLANTs, she was known as the Pink Princess and was very much beloved by the people who look up to her. She is said to sing the prayers of the Coordinators, and mostly her songs are about peace and the need for peace in a war torn era. She met Kira Yamato when he saved her floating space pod in the debris belt, and was immediately drawn to him. She told him that he was a nice person really, and not because they were the same. She reveals that she was the fiancee of Athrun Zala, who was Kira's childhood friend, and that they would get married someday. Kira then returned her to Athrun. We see her first trait as a strong character when she told/asked Rau Le Creuset (who was also hanging around there at that time) "must you fight in front of me?" Lacus, meeting Athrun after that, told him that she liked Kira. The next time we see her, she took Kira under her care until he fully recuperated from his last battle with Athrun, sent to her by Reverend Malchio. They had talked a lot, and Lacus found out that his thoughts, feelings, and ideals were the same as hers. That point in time, Patrick Zala, Athrun's father, had become very aggressive lately in putting the Coordinators' stake in the future forward and is now seeing Siegel Clyne as a threat to his ambitions. Lacus then put all her trust in Kira and gave him a sword in which he was to fight for his beliefs, the Freedom Gundam. She then became a fugitive and mustered enough support, denouncing Zala's more violent take on equality for the Coordinators, sending secret messages to the people to stop the war. She meets Athrun in the White Symphony
Theater where she made her debut as a singer and asked Athrun what he was fighting for. After that, she takes charge of a ZAFT ship, the Eternal, and used it as a new flagship for the new faction that she puts up in order to fight Zala's tyrannical and oppressive rule, the Clyne Faction. She meets Kira some time after and reveals her father's death, crying in
his arms. Cagalli Yula Athha asked Athrun if it was OK with him since she is his fiancee during that time, he said he didn't mind. During the next few battles, Lacus is now the leader of the Three Ship Alliance along with Andrew Waltfeld (who mysteriously survived an in his face BuCUE explosion), and becomes even more deeply in love with Kira. She asked him to come back to her, even gave Kira her ring. She was the one who comforted Kira when he cried about Fllay. Cagalli told her about his relationship with Fllay and Lacus said she didn't mind.
2 years have passed, and the war was successfully won by the Three Ship Alliance and secured a peace for all of them. Athrun now lives in Orb as the personal bodyguard of Cagalli as Alex Dino, and Cagalli is the new Chief Representative of Orb; she and Kira decided to live in Onogoro to take care of the children and forget about the war and live peacefully. Lacus didn't really want to go back to war, but an attempt on her life made her change her mind and reluctantly hands the keys of Kira's sword back to him. She then finds out about the current Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Dullindal's plan on using her image to make the
PLANT populace entrust their support for him via Meer Campbell and so decides to go out into space to find more about it. Dullindal reveals that she was the White Queen on his chessboard, easily the most powerful piece of the game, and Kira as the White King (the most important piece); he knew that they had to be separated so that it would be easier for him to achieve his ends. Lacus continuously worked in Eternal, secretly docked in an asteroid belt along with Factory, where she was now building a new sword for Kira (Strike Freedom Gundam), for Athrun (Infnite Justice Gundam), and the CE version of DOM Troopers for her
other supporters; all the while maintaining vigilance on the ZAFT front and trying to find out more about Dullindal's motives into bringing Meer Campbell into the field. She eventually found out about the Destiny Plan, and decided that it was not for the good of the world. She then denounced Dullindal's fake in a surprise broadcast with Cagalli, then went on to declare war on Dullindal's beliefs (and his supporters, apparently). She then leads the new Three Ship Alliance into another resounding victory, effectively crushing Dullindal's dreams and hopes for his own better future, and laid out a new future for all generations to come: a future wherein one could choose his fate freely. She then decides to become the PLANT/Earth mediator at the end of the Final Plus.
Eternal Love: Protect
Ah, the pair that (almost) everyone digging the CE universe loves to hate. I mean, of course there's LOTS to hate! Fllay isn't actually the type of girl who any girl would want to meet in a school hallway: she's pretty, popular, a Daddy's little girl, a spoiled brat, and to top it all off, every guy in school seems to have a crush on her. She's suffering from the Tomoe Syndrome (more on that later): (almost) everybody seems to think that Lacus is Kira's true love, and that he should never ever have met Fllay in the first place. Kira deserves somebody better, PERFECT, not some girl with serious mental problems; after going all through the entire series emotionally unstable, he needs Lacus to put everything back to its rightful place…
Right.
First of all, Fllay needs to be given some slack. She has her flaws, yes; and that she used her own feminine wiles to attract Kira and turn him into her "mindless" little puppet, effectively crushing the guy's fragile state of mind at that point in time. Now, of course, that's not VERY good. But…Fllay seriously paid for this bad deed by realizing only too
late how much she truly loved the guy she was supposed to hate. Kira was always there for her when she needed him, taking care of her, even coming to the point that he actually twisted Ssigh's arm to declare (in some way or other) that she ONLY belonged to him and that
she and ONLY she truly understood what he was going through at that time. At first, Fllay used Kira to get back at the Coordinators who killed her father, the only one she has left in this world (her mother already died, so you could probably see how deep this relationship
was between a father and a daughter). Her father was a rich politician who probably used money to get Fllay all the things she wanted, giving her the best things in life: designer clothes, her beauty products (to which Cagalli was too happy to note), maybe even a whole day in a park wherein she's the only customer so that she could enjoy the sights alone along with fabulous birthday parties maybe when she was a little girl, etc., etc, so that he could somehow make it all up to Fllay (the lost time he could spend with her due to his job). So imagine the horror and the loss and the pain when her father died right in front of her eyes. It's not because she doesn't have anyone left who could buy all the stuff that she wanted anymore; she just lost a father. So, it was understandable why she put Kira through those horrors at first: a Coordinator is a Coordinator, and since he let the Coordinators kill her father, that Coordinator who promised that her father would be safe must die. Of
course, it was her Daddy's little girl speaking; going by the way that she was portrayed as spoiled and selfish, it was what she thought was right at first. Kira was happy to do her wishes at first, but when he started having doubts, Fllay thought that he didn't want her anymore, and that he only pitied her that was why he agreed to have a relationship with her in the first place. She became even more confused when Kira went MIA. Fllay tried killing Dearka Elthman in a rage, because he was a Coordinator who killed Kira (even if it was Athrun who "killed" him; she is very fond of generalizations….^^;; ), saying that Miriallia (who lost her boyfriend Tolle also because of Athrun) was just like her. Miriallia
stopped her, saying that she wasn't like Fllay at all. EVER. Fllay even tried going back to Ssigh, who got quite angry and told her that she was already in love with Kira, a fact that she was still vehemently denying all along. Fllay thought back to all the good things Kira did for her, and slowly realized that she was already falling in love with him. They reached the HQ at Alaska, and when the superior officers learned about what had happened up to now, they decided that Fllay, along with Mwu and Natarle, be reassigned to another Archangel class ship, the Dominion; the superiors believed that Fllay was essential to winning the
battle by amassing support from the Atlantic Federation. The Archangel was supposed to be left at the base to be destroyed for being traitors (by means of a WMD: the Cyclops System). Fllay tried going back to her friends but was kidnapped by Rau and taken to the Vesalius. At first, she also tried shooting Rau with a gun, but Rau laughed and told Fllay that she was powerless and that if she ever hurt him, the other Coordinators would be more than happy to do off with her. She spent a short time on board the Vesalius, and was even chastised by Yzak Joule by yelling at her to sit down. Rau then picked the most opportune time to exact
revenge on the Naturals and the other Coordinators by giving Fllay a diskette that supposedly contained something that would end the war. Fllay went out in an escape pod, desperately radioing anybody on every channel for help (just a glorious time to be out on an escape pod; she was floating in the middle of a raging battlefield…O____O;; ). Kira, who
was in the Freedom Gundam at that time, heard her call for help and desperately tried to get back to her in (what I think is) the most emotional scene of the entire series.
Kira: "Fllay…FLLLLLAAAYYYY~~~!!!"
Fllay: "Kira…you're alive…!"
Kira: "FFFFLLLLLLAAAAAAAYYYYYYY~~~~~!!!"
Freedom lost its head, random limbs, before Athrun, in his Justice
Gundam, dragged Kira back to safety. Everybody onboard the Archangel heard this exchange (I'm not sure about the Eternal and the Kusanagi, though….^^;; ), and Ssigh looked wistful and whispered her name.
It was at this point that he had finally proven his point (to Fllay) that both of them were in love with each other. Kira went back, very dazed, onboard the Eternal; Lacus asked him what was wrong, and he ended up having a hallucination of Fllay. He then cried in her lap saying over and over again that he didn't really want to hurt her. Fllay, meanwhile, was
picked up by the Dominion and she handed the diskette to Muruta Azrael, the owner of the Azrael Conglomerate, and staunch supporter (I say leader) of the Blue Cosmos (the most popular/extremist anti Coordinator group). Then, meeting up with Natarle a little while later, she told her that she now understood what war was about, and what everybody else was fighting for. Natarle asked her to go back to the lunar base, but Fllay shook her head and said that she wanted to be there onboard the Dominion; she wanted to tell her friends everything, most especially, Kira. She admitted at last (indirectly) that she wanted to say something to him that was very important: admitting her truest feelings for him at last. The Dominion, in its last bid for ending the war (now that Natarle has decided Azrael's crazy antics of destroying the entire Coordinator fleet was just too much already), switched
allegiance and Natarle told everybody to get on the escape pod just as she was shot trying to stop Azrael from firing the Lohengrin (the antimatter cannons of the Dominion) which already fired and killed Mwu in the Strike Gundam (for protecting the Archangel). Kira, who
was fighting Rau at that time, noticed the escape pod where Fllay was on and protected it from the Providence Gundam's DRAGOON beams, and he finally came close to where she was. Fllay looked at him with tears in her eyes, very happy (blissful, most probably), just like Kira was. But before both of them could say anything, Rau took this time to land a DRAGOON shot on the unprotected side of the escape pod, instantly killing Fllay as the resulting explosion engulfed her in flames. Kira became very devastated, crying and asking why over and over again. Fllay appeared to him in spirit, apologizing for all the horrid things that
she did to him. She then went on to tell Kira that he must not cry anymore, and because she was now going to protect him from that moment on with her truest feelings. She gave him a kiss just before she disappeared, and Kira snapped into SEED mode, defeating Rau and winning the war at last. Kira was then shown (in true FFVIII fashion) floating in space with the Freedom debris about him and Lacus' ring floating before his face inside the helmet. He was crying and asked himself why it had to happen. Then, insert 5 minute OVA conclusion and then GSD.
Now, going through all this crap, who is to say Fllay was just totally useless and annoying as a character? She was portrayed as a spoiled brat at first who actually grew up a lot throughout the entire run of the series. She was, as one of the show's writers put it,the most realistic and most beautiful (in terms of character growth) character that he had
ever written, so much so that the show seemed to entirely focus on her alone and the way she developed throughout it; they actually had to cut some off her screen time/story as to let the other characters develop as well. She was originally meant to have a tragic/romantic end; she was the original intended pilot of the Strike Rouge and that she was sent to become a human bomb to destroy the Archangel, killing Kira (maybe from trying to stop her or something) and Ssigh and making Athrun lose a leg (or was it an arm?). There was a backlash in Japan when she died; it was also quite clear that the Japanese fans also loved her character, and up to this day, maintains a strong fanbase (mostly Kira X Fllay shrines, and Yzak X Fllay [!]) and is the 20th most popular female anime character in a recent anime magazine survey over there, considering that she is already "dead" for the last 4 years or so (SEED was created in 2002). Fllay's influence on Kira's life went beyond SEED and continued to haunt him in GSD; his un-emotional take on some of the more emotional
situations in the sequel could be attributed to the fact that he was still honoring his promise to Fllay that he would not cry anymore, and his passiveness to Lacus (to which some of their more rabid fans argue that their relationship is way better and BEST developed and most mature) could also mean that he was still at a loss after Fllay's death. Still, there
are some situations wherein Kira was shown to care for Lacus: getting worried when she told him that she was to go back to space, almost saying something to her before their communication lines were cut off, hugging her when he got onboard the Eternal to receive the Strike Freedom Gundam…but these instances were just scattered sunlight in the otherwise gloomy GSD atmosphere, and when Lacus went off to space, Kira didn't even think of her a bit, asking himself what could Lacus be doing right now; the normal way a supposed boyfriend should be doing. Of course their fans would argue that they were so busy saving the world so that they have no time to think about each other…but still. I could really tell that Athrun and Cagalli have a thing going on
between them without them even TOUCHING each other; compared to the Kira Lacus moments that make me go O_____o;; because they seem to suddenly care about each other out of thin air…it was just THAT staged for me. Their relationship was something deeper than your average teenage romance (Kira Lacus)…or so their rabid fans
claim. But going against the emotional roller coaster that was Kira and Fllay's romance, it's nothing; heck, even compared to Athrun and Cagalli's relationship, Shinn and Stellar's relationship, and the blossoming relationship between Athrun and Meyrin…they are WAY more
developed. Lacus is…well, plain BORING. I never really liked her as a character. Aside from her weird and sometimes awesome fashion sense, I just don't really like the way she is portrayed: that she is the Master Yoda of the entire CE universe. Everybody must bow down before her omniscience and her Pink Princess-hood or else they would die. She is the character who could do no wrong; or, if her character ever did anything wrong, her rabid fans would have something to say about it on how why it isn't wrong. She is the benefactor of everything that is the best for her White King, she is the savior that would lead everybody to peace and love, what she says is the best for the entire universe, and she decides what is good and what is bad. And, on top of that, she is the ambassador of goodwill through her songs that sing about peace and the perils of war. Oh, and she takes time out to be the
"innocent/pure/naive" girl who hides a "strong/wise/deep" personality behind that pretty, pink facade. Talk about a Mary Sue! Now, she sends her Mary Sue-hood to Kira when they became an official couple of the CE: if Lacus is the GODDESS, then Kira is the GOD who
could also do no wrong. He puts down enemies like Kenshin Himura (only shooting the heads and random limbs of several enemy MS) with awesome precision, he could suddenly walk in straight into a raging battlefield slicing up random grunts not thinking about diplomacy and
what have you and saying that he's just "trying to stop a war", deciding that people who do not adhere to his own ideals must be punished, and learning high level Jedi mind tricks that would even make Master Yoda very proud. Oh, and his Gundam barely even has a scratch whenever he goes out to play (only when he got Freedomed), and is starting to have Newtype abilities as well, just like his partner in crime (Lacus). If Mwu is the man who could make the impossible possible, then Kira is the man who makes the unbelievable possible. I mean, we're talking about a guy who survived 2 in his face explosions (the last one was a nuclear
explosion), a Strike Rouge pwnage by several enemy ZAKUs, even survive the latest war without even getting his Strike Freedom Gundam the tiniest scratch (exploding multicolored laser beams here and there, mind you). -_______________-;; And…take THIS! He moped about a
destroyed Gundam?? OoO Give my old Kira back! (or maybe Fllay's spirit is working uber overtime…?) Whatever. Lacus and Kira's relationship is about as exciting as month old bread way past its prime. They are so perfect for each other that they're just as hopelessly boring together. -______________-;; Kira was said to have been very developed in SEED that is why there is no need for a character rehash or something in Destiny (but even so, he stole the spotlight from the show's supposed "main" character, Shinn, by just BEING there). NO WAY! Kira became boring the moment he received Freedom from Lacus; he was on his way to becoming the GOD of the CE. He became even more boring when he ended up with Lacus. If Kira was "calm" and at "peace" whenever he has Lacus beside him, Fllay, in contrast, made him become one awesome pilot who was emotional, full of intensity, and very human by showing his most tender side (Lacus couldn't even get Kira to do all those things he did to Fllay). And, their relationship wasn't perfect: they had ups and downs, just as normal relationships would go. But they really worked hard at it for it to work, which almost did. Fllay decided to love him even after her death, protecting him with her truest feelings: which is, by far,
the most beautiful kind of love that one could give in his or her entire life.
But the question is…did Fllay really ever die? Mitsuo Fukuda, the show's director, reveals that what Kira saw was not Fllay's spirit, but his own hallucination. So, if Mwu could come back from the grave after getting killed by a blast of antimatter, why shouldn't Fllay? Only time could tell.
No matter what happens, I believe Kira and Fllay's love is something
that would go all throughout time and even possibly, beyond eternity, giving each other a reason to protect…and be protected.
